Volunteers in Policing (VIP) assist the village and the department by participating in a number of programs. In 1996, VIP began with an "adopt a highway" program. Since that time they have expanded in numbers and programs. Although they continue their "adopt a highway" program, they also assist the department in the following areas: Municipal Court Information Desk, Radar Board Operations, Vacation House checks, and traffic/pedestrian control at special events. VIP also assisted in developing a department training library.
